FABP7 and Id4 are co-expressed in microgemistocytes in oligodendrogliomas. H & E staining showed typical morphology of microgemistocytes with eosinophilic cytoplasm (A) with strong GFAP immunoreactivity (B). In consecutive sections, cytoplasmic FABP7 (C) and Id4 (D) staining was detected in the same group of cells. However, microgemistocytes are negative for both FABP7 and Id4 in some oligodendrogliomas. H & E (E) and GFAP (F) staining showed the presence of microgemistocytes that were essentially negative for FABP7 (G) and Id4 (H). Some FABP7-positive cells were reactive astrocytes (G).
