The volunteers’ age and the intensity of fluorescence on fluorescence in situ hybridization are closely correlated in a linear manner (r 2 = 0.8263) when a simple regression analysis is applied (y = -0.174x + 17.719, where y is fluorescence intensity and x is Stomach Age). Rearranging this equation, the Stomach Age model is x (years) = (17.719 –y)/0.174.
