Frequency of ALDH+ cells in ductules of benign breast tissue from pre-menopausal women with a family history of breast cancer. ALDH+ cells were detected significantly more often in tissue from patients in this group than in control patients. ALDH+ cells in the periphery of blood vessels, such as in the large Y-shaped structure in the center of this image, were detected in some cases (not analyzed further in this study).
